The Big Plan....

Every year like most people I set myself a new years resolution. Often this involves going to the gym for several months before I find something else which needs my attention, and subsequently stop going. I was hoping this year will be different, this might actually help me. As a sufferer of Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) one of the key treatments is exercise. At this point I haven’t really been doing much of it, and as a result my symptoms aren’t as well controlled as I’d hoped.

The Plan

All my life I have been a lover of two wheeled transport, whether it’s a bicycle or a motorcycle. At various points in time I used to ride my bicycle to work and back, as well as go out for pleasure on/off road. Its something I have always enjoyed, and currently miss. So why couldn’t I do it again? It would certainly help my general fitness, as well as it being good exercise and relief for Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) pain. (bringing your knees to your chest is a good way to stretch the surrounding muscles as well as easing pain).

It also occurred to me that unless I had a goal, or something to work towards then I am likely to loose motivation, and

inevitably be added to the list of failed new years resolutions. That’s when it occurred to me that other people could benefit from this, why not do a charity ride? That was it, my motivation, my inspiration and my plan.

So all that said, what’s stopping me? Oh yes I don’t have a bike!

Enter my new (yet to be named) bike 🙂
