Taking a step back to jump forward

Long time no speak!
Yes, it’s been a while since my last post. Nearly six months in fact. I hope you haven’t taken it personally, it’s not your fault, it’s mine. Life kind of got in the way. But this has been a good thing for me.
Not blogging and talking about Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) as much has freed up some of my time. This was a great thing for me, as it helped me to concentrate on the things that make life so wonderful. For me, spending more time with my wife and son was certainly a high priority.
Taking a step back has also helped me to re-evaluate my AS. Concentrating on the joys of life, and not spending as much time talking about AS, has helped me gain a fresh perspective. With the extra time I’ve spent “living” my life – rather than just talking about it – has helped to elevate my mood, which has subsequently made me feel better about my AS. The fact that my AS has not stopped me doing my extra-curricular activities (read: play video games) is very positive indeed. Taking this step back has put me in a great position to spring forward with a vigour, enabling me to do even more than I did before, while keeping up with my social activities (read: complete Tomb Raider).Well that’s the plan at least.
But now I’m back!! You lucky devils you.
Why now? Well there are a few reasons, apart from missing all your insightful comments.
For starters it’s that time of the year again – time for this years Walk Your AS Off awareness campaign. Please check out the WYASO website for a list of teams competing this year. So if you haven’t signed up and want to participate, then you can sign up to an existing team or start your own team through the website. Alternatively you can make your interest know in the comments below, and I will then contact you directly with the details. This year I am walking for the Orange Apples. If you just wanted to keep up-to-date with the campaigns progress then you can follow it on Twitter and/or Facebook.
I also wanted to share some personal news with you all. I have two big life changing events happening this year, one of which will become apparent in later posts. But this April, my wife and I are expecting our second child!! Exciting times are ahead!!
I’m looking forward to catching up with you all again. Why don’t you tell me what you’ve been up to in my absence?
