Finally Spring has Sprung - Is it time for my Bath then..?

It’s not normally my style to write a blog post without a theme or a resounding purpose; but today is different, so please indulge me.

Firstly I hope all my American readers are safe and well following the last few weeks events in Boston and Texas. My thoughts remain with the victims and their families, in what is such a difficult time.

So we are now 8 weeks through the Walk Your AS Off campaign. It’s flew by hasn’t it!?! Since the last update on my progress I have managed to smash my old weekly personal best, with my new PB for the week being 72,127 steps. Leaving my overall step count at 401,106 steps. This is behind most at this stage, but I am pretty happy with my progress so far, considering my dodgy knee and all. How are you all doing with your progress? Has anyone else been suffering as a result of the 4 second rule?

This last week in the the UK marked an unusually late start to the spring. Finally, the Sun appeared!! It even lead me to make a start on sorting my new garden out (we moved house in January). Despite spending a whole day gardening, lifting, carrying, bending, and generally doing things I probably shouldn’t, I still managed to avoid a flare-up, or a painful day after! This was a great victory in the weeks battle. All the little victories make such a big difference to me. I’m sure they do to you too. Though I must share the glory of my triumph with my wife. If she hadn’t had made me draw a (Radox Muscle Soak) bath, and forced me into it as I kicked and screamed like a toddler, then it might have been a different story all together. That’s TWO baths I’ve had this year!! I must be on track for some sort of record with that.

Last weekend was also the weekend of the great London Marathon. There were three runners competing this year who were running to raise money and awareness for Ankylosing Spondylitis. Gerry, Greg and Paul ran in the support of The National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society (NASS). It is not too late to sponsor them, even though it is past the big day; all you have to do is click on their names above to visit their sponsorship pages.

It would be rude of me to leave you without mentioning the upcoming World AS Day on the 4th of May. I’d love to hear what you have planned for it. Let me know below if you’re doing something exciting or different to tell the world about the AS word.
