A New Year, A New Look & A New Plan
After a lovely Christmas, and a pretty modest New Year, the time has come to get back into the normal routine they call life. Many people start the New Year with a resolution, and times have passed where I was one of those people. After the first few months into any resolution, like many others my enthusiasm faded, and my resolution for that year fizzled out as quick as it had started. This year I decided I wouldn’t make a resolution, no point, this year I have a ‘cunning plan’! Now I know what your thinking, I’m just calling it something different to make it more appealing to myself, when it is still just as likely to fail. After all “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” (Shakespeare, 1597)
The difference between a resolution and a ‘cunning plan’ is in the name, it’s a plan. In the past resolutions have been half thought out ideas, with an unachievable goal or no really strategy / plan of getting there. This year I have decided to put some thought into my ‘cunning plan’, and actually make a plan. After all any statistician will tell you I’m much more likely to succeed with a strategy and an attainable aim, right?
Well I better tell you what my ‘cunning plan’ is I suppose. It’s simply to write. Over the last year (ish) I have loved writing this blog, and the feedback I have had has been somewhat inspiring. After reviewing my posts over 2011, it is clear that my writing is continually improving. Now I know I’m no Shakespeare, and I do not have the biggest vocabulary in the world, but at least I know what it means, and I can spell it. 🙂
For all intense and purposes I enjoy writing, I really do! When you enjoy something you practice doing it to get better. That is precisely what my ‘cunning plan’ is all about. It is also what has inspired my new blog look. There have also been a few other new additions to this blog site apart from a ‘lick of paint’. I have added a contact page, which not only has a new dedicated email address to respond to all you comments / questions, but it also has the links to my social media, including my brand new Facebook page. Not sure why I hadn’t made one sooner! It’s such a great way of interacting with you all on a different platform, and a great way for us all to keep up-to-date.
I’m really looking forward to the coming year. Please if you have any subjects / topics that you feel need to be covered or talked about, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Happy reading.
